Kamakura Walking  - Tsuruga-Oka Hachiman-guu Shrine

I took the bus to go to Tsuruga-Oka Hachiman-guu Shrine from Enkakuji temple. It took around 10 minutes.

When you enter the Tsuruga-Oka Hachiman-guu Shrine, you may find the white flowers of lotus in bloom in the pond of left hand side, and find the red flowers of the lotus are in bloom in the pond on the right hand side. Since it was a little bit late from the time of the bloom, we may find a little amount of flowers in blooml. They say that the color white is related to Genji, and the color red is related to Heisi. Genji and Heisi are the famous families of the solgers in Kamakura era.

The photo above is Hachiman-guu Shrine seen from the right hand side.  We cannot find the famous ginkgo tree, which was falling down a few years ago.

The photo above is the left part of the main shrine. The big drum was impressive.

Kamakura Walking - Enkakuji temple

I walked in Enkakuji following Tokeiji. Before entering Enkakuji, I show you the photo of the bell of Tokeiji temple.

Hojo Tokimune was founded the Enkakuji, in 1282, inviting Zen Master, Mugaku-Sogen from China late Kamakura period. It is said that the temple was built to mourn the solgers including the enemy in the Mongol invasion war. It is one of the head temple of Rinzai sec of Zen..

JR(Japanese Railways) Yokosuka Line has passed in the precincts of Enkakuji.
The photo is to look at the Enkakuji Somon gate from the entrance.

You may find Hojo after going through Sanmon gate..

There is a place with a view of the whole Enkakuji If you go up the road in front of Shourei-in,
you may find a good place to view the whole Enkakuji temple. Three photos taken from at this point.
